I sincerely hope that a native Mac app can return.Mail App for Gmail is a brand new app for the next generation of Gmail. Personally, I would happily continue to use an ongoing supported V2.0, indefinitely, even without any of the gatekeeper or other features in v3.0. I'm sorry if I'm being brutal, but I hope you understand that this feedback is coming from a place of deep love for Spark. But I would not pay for V3.0 - it's that terrible. I would happily pay a subscription for V2.0, that's how much I value it. The move to subscription model with this downgrade, is an additional huge pain point. gatekeeper) are nice - the significant loss of features, the multiple clicks/shortcuts to get to simple features, the Electron implementation on Mac, the terrible energy and CPU use, the lack of customisations, and on and on - all these downsides, far outweigh any of the relatively small benefits. Electron apps are just terrible Once again, this is a huge downgrade and if I may be completely honest, a bit of an insult to existing Spark users who have come to love and cherish all that Spark meant and did. ![]() Many of the above issues, but not all, can be summarised: losing a native Mac app is a huge, huge loss. There is a growing community looking to move back to Apple Mail or other apps: UI/visualisation quirks - so much wasted/white empty space, icons tiny e.g. So many clicks now to do basic things (even settings - everything is buried and need so many clicks to get to) No permanent sidebar? Have to click (or keyboard shortcut) each time? Where is list of "pins"? Losing the endless "Seen" view is a big loss. In V2, having "People" right at the top made sense, followed by notifications and newsletters groups. What is the inbox view now? It's cluttered and doesn't make send. rubber band/ elastic scrolling at top of list send again - and I get the command centre view? And this view is tiny for the window size, forcing me to scroll Right clicking an email to quickly select an option e.g. Evernote v10, notorious for issues) are better than this Macbook Pro M1 CPU 30-50+% usage, when just idling! Getting warm and battery draining fast. It has taken me less than 15 minutes to quit V3.0 and explore alternatives, and I'm seriously considering returning to Apple Mail, even though it's still not as good as Spark 2.0 In no particular order: ![]() While I'm sure you will take feedback on board and will improve, it seems like this update is driven by an underlying philosophy that is very different to the old Spark, and I am concerned that there is no turning back. I'm incredibly concerned and saddened by this update, which is a huge downgrade. ![]() Hello, When I moved from Apple Mail to Spark a few years ago, it truly was life changing and I really did come to "love email again". Spark 3.0 on Mac is just sad and awful in so many ways. ![]()
